Igbo Leaders in Lagos Urge Calm and Seek Justice After Charles Nwachukwu’s Death
Community leaders of the Igbo-speaking Community in Lagos visited the family of Charles Nwachukwu to express sympathy and gather facts about his death. President-General Chief Sunday Udeh led the delegation and urged calm among members. Chief Udeh praised the Ezendigbo institution, set up in 1998 to reduce ethnic conflict, and commended Eze Chika Nwokedi for liaising with security agencies. He confirmed that the case is with the police for a thorough and impartial investigation. Other officials, including Dr Okechukwu Izuegbunam and Dr Anthony Ukachukwu, echoed calls for unity and justice. They warned against retaliation, praised the swift arrests of five suspects, and appealed for community cooperation with law enforcement. Leaders prayed for the bereaved family and urged respect for Igbo cultural values. They stressed that peace and the rule of law are vital to prevent further tragedies.
