Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old Prof. Segun Aina as New JAMB Registrar

Tinubu Appoints 39-Year-Old Prof. Segun Aina as New JAMB Registrar

President Bola Tinubu has named Prof. Segun Aina as the next Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board. He will succeed Prof. Is-haq Oloyede when his two-term tenure ends on July 31, 2026. Prof. Aina holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Kent, an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security, and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University. He also completed senior management training at Lagos Business School. He began his career at JAMB during NYSC and later became a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University. With over 15 years advising governments on digital exam systems, he is one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in his field. A member of COREN, NSE, IEEE and IET, Prof. Aina will now make history as JAMB’s youngest registrar. President Tinubu expects him to drive further reform and strengthen the Board’s digital infrastructure.

It's surprising to see someone so young appointed to such a critical position; experience might be stretched thin in that role.

I no gree that age should determine competence; na proven track record matter pass mere youth.

The board should support Prof. Aina with mentorship from former registrars to ease his transition and uphold standards.
