Osun 2026: CP Gotan Insists Parties Must Notify Police Before Rallies
The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, has directed all political parties to inform security authorities ahead of any campaign rallies. He made this call during an interactive session with stakeholders at the Police Headquarters in Osogbo. Gotan warned against the destruction of opponents’ billboards, banners, and other campaign materials. He also advised against late-night gatherings and inflammatory remarks that could spark violence. The police boss urged strict compliance with the Electoral Act and discouraged thuggery, gangsterism, and hate speech. He emphasized that a peaceful, credible election requires cooperation from all political actors.
