Late-Night Shootout in Abuja: Police Foil Kidnap in 30-Minute Gun Battle

Residents of Byazhin, Abuja, were thrown into panic early Friday when armed kidnappers clashed with police in a 30-minute shootout. The FCT Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit swooped on the gang near the Redeemed Church area after credible intelligence. The kidnappers had targeted a couple identified as Samson and his wife, attempting to force entry into their home. Officers responded decisively, forcing the suspects to flee into nearby bushes. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and seven rounds of ammunition. The rescued couple received treatment for trauma at Gwarinpa General Hospital and are now under protective custody. The FCT Command commended its operatives and urged residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity.
