Enugu Greenlights 19,000 Homes, New Roads and Landmark Tourism Sites
The Enugu State Executive Council has approved a major infrastructure plan covering roads, housing, tourism and public buildings. Plans include a 10.5 km Igogoro–Amachara–Ikpamodo–Okpo–Amaada road and flash‐flood repairs on Nsukka’s main highway. More than 19,000 housing units will rise across two estates, including 1,000 smart‐city terraces and 18,000 mass‐housing homes at Gateway Estate. The Secretariat Complex in GRA will be fully remodelled, with upgrades to all wings and new facilities. Over 30 pieces of light equipment will support direct‐labour road repairs and maintenance. Three flagship tourism projects also won approval: an Ovu Lake Golf Resort at Akpawfu, ecotourism developments in Attakwu and Akwuke, and a 5.3 km Okpatu–Awhum cable car linking the Cross of Hope to the Awhum Waterfall.
