Sowore Criticises Nigerians Celebrating IBB’s 85th Birthday
Omoyele Sowore has criticised Nigerians celebrating former military Head of State Ibrahim Babangida on his 85th birthday, accusing him of making decisions that harmed Nigeria. Sowore said Babangida’s years in power deepened corruption, weakened democracy and left lasting consequences for later generations. He argued that the former leader should be remembered for the impact of his decisions, not only for birthday tributes. Babangida ruled Nigeria from 1985 to 1993. His administration annulled the June 12, 1993 presidential election, widely believed to have been won by MKO Abiola.
