Court Dismisses Dagogo’s APC Congress Challenge, Orders ₦20M Costs
The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out Fubara Dagogo’s bid to nullify the APC’s recent national congress. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik ruled on Monday that the court lacked jurisdiction over internal party matters. The judge held that nomination processes and party congress procedures are non-justiciable. She awarded ₦10 million costs each against Dagogo and his lawyer, Ogochukwu Onyema, bringing the total to ₦20 million. Dagogo had sought to void any South-South vice chairmanship contest after claiming he was unlawfully excluded. He also demanded ₦100 million in damages for alleged embarrassment and distress. The APC, its national chairman and other officers argued that Dagogo failed to exhaust internal dispute channels and lacked standing under party rules.
