Emir Sanusi Appoints Retired Air Marshal Dikko Umar as Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa

Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has approved the appointment of retired Air Marshal Mohammed Dikko Umar as Sarkin Fulanin Ja’idanawa. The new role took effect on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in an official letter signed by Aliyu Ibrahim Ahmed, Matawallen Kano and Senior Councilor of the Kano Emirate Council. This announcement follows the passing of the late Alhaji Abubakar Gwadabe Buhari on April 14, 2026. In his letter, the Emir congratulated Dikko Umar and expressed hope that his wealth of experience will advance the development of the Kano Emirate and Kano State.
