What Does the Bible Teach About True Love?

What Does the Bible Teach About True Love?

Biblical love goes beyond feelings, attraction or personal gain. Scripture presents it as a deliberate commitment that reflects God’s character and seeks the good of others. According to 1 John 4:8, “God is love.” This love is seen most clearly in John 3:16, where God gave His Son for humanity. It is sacrificial, unconditional and rooted in grace rather than what people deserve. The Greek term agape describes this highest form of love. It remains steadfast in difficult moments and calls believers to love others through action, sacrifice and commitment.
