Oyo State Releases ₦5.8bn for Landowner Compensation, Greenlights Major Road Upgrades

The Oyo State Executive Council approved an additional ₦5.813 billion to compensate more than 900 property owners affected by the 110 km Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road corridor. The scheme is designed to ease traffic gridlock and open new economic corridors around Ibadan. Council also cleared ₦3.981 billion for the Okaka–Otu–Igbojaiye–KAP Film Village road, including bridge works over the Otu and Ofiki rivers, bringing the total project cost to ₦30.464 billion. Officials further approved ₦126.912 million to complete the Oyo State Christian Wing multipurpose hall and set aside ₦710.382 million for transport subsidies under the SAfER programme through August 2026. The state will host the 2026 International Tourism Summit to showcase its heritage and attract investment.
