Retired DCP Mohammed Ahmed Defeats Senator Goje to Claim APC Senate Ticket for Gombe Central
In the APC direct primary held in Akko and Yamaltu/Deba LGAs, retired DCP Mohammed Ahmed scored 42,785 votes to unseat Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, who managed 10,425 votes. Ahmed, backed as the consensus candidate, praised the smooth process and said residents showed strong support for a fresh voice in the National Assembly. He stressed that his ambition was driven by the people’s desire for change rather than denying anyone their right to contest. Goje has represented Gombe Central since 2011 after serving two terms as governor. His camp declined to comment pending clearance from the senator. This result marks a notable shift in the district’s political landscape.
