Masked Gang Storms LASU Road, Robs Passersby and Shops in Broad Daylight
About 15 armed men wearing black and wielding guns and machetes launched a brazen raid along LASU Road in Ojo at around 11 am on Friday. They targeted passersby and shop owners in the Iyana School and First Gate areas, making off with cash and goods from a supermarket and other outlets. Eyewitnesses said the attackers emerged suddenly, some with face masks, and forced people to flee as they went from shop to shop. Traders who locked up were still left counting losses, while those who ran escaped unharmed. Residents were alarmed that the operation lasted several minutes without any police response, despite a station just three minutes away. Lagos State Police later explained that a clash between two local transport unions over a bus park was hijacked by hoodlums, leading to one arrest. Local business owners now fear the gang may return, calling for better security patrols and quicker police action.
