The Altar Is Christ’s, Not a Campaign Stage

Pastors must speak truth to power. Scripture calls us to defend the poor and rebuke injustice. But endorsing a candidate from the pulpit crosses the line into carnality. The altar belongs to Christ, not to any party. Every church has members with different political convictions. When a pastor pushes one candidate as “God’s choice,” he risks alienating the flock. If a pastor wants to campaign, let him do so as a citizen. He can write articles, speak at rallies, or debate in the public square. The pulpit should serve God’s voice, not political emotions. Church is a house of prayer, worship, and truth. Turning it into a campaign stage divides believers and burdens consciences with what Scripture never commanded.

It's risky when pastors blur lines between faith and politics because that can fracture unity among congregants.

I don't think the pulpit should stay entirely neutral when core biblical values are at stake in elections.

Church leaders could host nonpartisan forums so members discuss candidates without sermons endorsing any specific party.
