Arewa Youth Forum Backs INEC, Urges Opposition to End Attacks Ahead of 2027 Polls

Arewa Youth Forum Backs INEC, Urges Opposition to End Attacks Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Arewa Youth Forum has thrown its full support behind INEC Chairman Prof. Joash Amupitan and called on all political stakeholders to set aside partisanship as preparations for the 2027 electoral cycle begin. Since his appointment by President Tinubu, Prof. Amupitan has overseen the successful Anambra governorship election and laid groundwork for upcoming polls in the FCT, Ekiti, and Osun. Key reforms include optimizing the BVAS, recruiting ad-hoc staff through the INECPRES portal, and expanding PVC distribution to every registration area. The forum urged opposition parties, civil society, security agencies, media, and youth to end destructive criticisms, curb misinformation, and engage constructively with INEC to ensure transparent, credible elections. AYF also commended former chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu for his digital reforms and pledged to support ongoing efforts to strengthen electoral integrity across Nigeria.
