Urgent Appeal: Help My Mum Recover from Stroke

Urgent Appeal: Help My Mum Recover from Stroke — 1 of 3
1 / 3

My mum suffered a stroke in May 2024 and her health has not improved. She now battles high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney issues. Physiotherapy at Alimosho General Hospital stopped because her blood pressure remains too high. She struggles with sleep and bowel movements. We’ve spent all our savings on treatment with little progress. Tests at Ikeja cost over ₦500,000 and her blood pressure and diabetes drugs alone cost ₦90,000 monthly. I haven’t been able to afford her medications for the last three weeks. Please help us cover her scans and medicines to prevent another stroke.

Has anyone here cared for a stroke patient with similar complications, and what strategies helped manage persistent high blood pressure at home?

Have you checked if her blood pressure spikes coincide with medication timing or certain daily activities?

It seems concerning that physiotherapy stopped entirely over blood pressure alone; perhaps there were alternative clinics or in-home options overlooked.

Maybe instead of immediate hospital visits, gentle daily exercises under supervision could ease blood pressure fluctuations more effectively.

Scheduling regular checkups with a nephrologist and endocrinologist might coordinate treatment for diabetes and kidney issues alongside stroke recovery.
