Anambra Govt Lawyers Absent as Bishop’s Fake Pastor Hearing Is Adjourned
On Monday, lawyers for the Anambra State Government failed to appear at the court hearing in the fake pastor case against Bishop Emeka Nwankpa. A defence team of three Senior Advocates of Nigeria and seven other lawyers represented the cleric. With no state counsel present, the judge adjourned the matter to Friday, 19 June 2026. Hundreds of worshippers and supporters gathered outside the courtroom, expressing confidence that Bishop Nwankpa will be vindicated. Bishop Nwankpa, General Overseer of Chapel of Faith Bible Assembly in Onitsha, remains in detention as he seeks bail. The government alleges he posed as a pastor and backed an opposition candidate in the last governorship election.
