Millions of Students Could Get Free Data to Access Educational Platforms

The Nigerian Communications Commission has launched consultations on a plan to let students use approved learning sites without paying for mobile data. The Zero-Rated Data Access Project aims to tackle digital exclusion by providing zero-rated access to online educational resources and digital skills platforms. This follows a presidential call for unhindered connectivity to schools and learning platforms. The consultation paper invites public feedback on a framework for implementation. Stakeholders have until July 9, 2026 to submit their contributions before the commission finalises the proposal.
