Liverpool Beat Madrid and United to Land Victor Munoz in £34.5m Deal

Victor Munoz has agreed to join Liverpool after the club activated his £34.5m release clause with Osasuna. The 22-year-old Spain international chose the Reds over Real Madrid, Manchester United and Newcastle United. Munoz completed his medical on Wednesday and has signed a six-year contract. He becomes the first signing under new head coach Andoni Iraola. Real Madrid still holds 50% of any future profit from his sale. Last season the versatile forward scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 La Liga appearances to help Osasuna avoid relegation. Liverpool will pay the fee in two instalments. Munoz’s arrival bolsters a front line that lost Mohamed Salah and faces a lengthy absence for Hugo Ekitike after an Achilles injury.
