Defence HQ Pledges to Track Down Killers of Retired Gen. Rabe Abubakar

Defence Headquarters has vowed to identify and bring to justice those responsible for the death of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar. A delegation led by Maj.-Gen. I.M. Abdullahi visited the Katsina State Government to convey the Armed Forces’ condolences. He praised Abubakar’s distinguished service and called his death a painful loss to his family, the state, and the nation. The team, which included several senior officers, reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen security operations and work with relevant agencies. Deputy Governor Faruk Jobe thanked the military for its solidarity and urged intensified action against insecurity. Abubakar was abducted on May 30, 2026, along the Katsina–Matazu Road and later died in captivity from complications of diabetes and hypertension. His remains were released by his captors and buried in Katsina according to Islamic rites.
