Mary Njoku Says Women’s Contributions as Family Providers Are Often Overlooked
Mary Njoku has highlighted the often-overlooked financial and caregiving responsibilities carried by many African women. She recalled a conversation with a male colleague who said women could not understand the pressure of providing for others. Njoku responded by signing his cheque, saying her actions spoke for themselves. She said many women support parents and siblings, pay school fees, care for relatives, build careers and continue providing after marriage. Njoku urged women whose work and sacrifices go unrecognised to celebrate their own achievements.
