Canada Squeeze Past South Africa as Bafana Bafana’s World Cup Run Ends

South Africa’s historic journey at the 2026 World Cup came to an end in a dismal round of 32 clash against co-hosts Canada. Despite qualifying for the knockout stage for the first time, Bafana Bafana offered little threat and managed just one shot on target in the opening half. In contrast, Canada dominated from the off, piling pressure with seven shots on target and more entries into South Africa’s box. The breakthrough came late when Stephen Eustaquio struck in second-half stoppage time to seal a 1-0 victory. While Canada march on to face the winner of Netherlands vs Morocco, South Africa depart with a disappointing performance. Fans will be left hoping for stronger displays when the tournament returns in 2030.
