Army Foils Terrorist Supply Network, Seizes 314 Rounds in Kogi

Army Foils Terrorist Supply Network, Seizes 314 Rounds in Kogi — 1 of 11
1 / 11

Troops of the Nigerian Army intercepted two suspected terrorist couriers on April 20 in Lokoja Local Government Area. Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers mounted a checkpoint along the Obajana-Kabba road and stopped a Toyota bus from Makurdi. They arrested Mallam Zubairu Abubakar and Adamu Abubakar Abdullahi and recovered 314 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition concealed behind the driver’s seat, three AK-47 magazines, two mobile phones, a driver’s licence and identity cards. In a related operation on March 29, troops halted a modified motorcycle on the Jamata-Owara road. A thorough search uncovered a hidden compartment loaded with ammunition. Follow-up investigations led to the arrest of Mathew Elisha, alias Nasara, a high-profile suspect on security watch lists. These successes reflect three months of intensified, intelligence-driven operations by the 12 Brigade to dismantle terrorist logistics networks in Kogi State. All suspects and seized items have been handed over to the 12 Military Intelligence Regiment for further action.

You're right to raise these points. Knowing how they uncovered the network is vital, and stricter roadside inspections could deter similar threats.

This operation look strong, but e dey make me wonder how reliable intelligence gathering was for this big seizure.

I'm not convinced a single checkpoint can disrupt a well-oiled terrorist network for long without broader intelligence cooperation.

Regular community updates and transparent briefings on security operations could help citizens stay informed and support ongoing anti-terror efforts.
