APC Replaces 26 Primary Winners Overnight, Final List Sent to INEC
The All Progressives Congress reviewed over 700 petitions and quietly replaced 26 candidates who were initially declared winners in its National Assembly primaries. The revised list covers seven senatorial districts and 19 House seats across nine states and has been forwarded to INEC as the party’s final nominations for 2027. Key upsets include former Benue governor Gabriel Suswam losing the North East ticket, Customs official Benjamin Aber being dropped in Benue North West, and Senator Sunday Karimi reclaiming Kogi West. Other changes span Abia South, Taraba North, Ondo Central, Niger, Kwara, Kaduna and Ebonyi constituencies. Aggrieved members in Ondo State are protesting, accusing party leaders of imposing “Abuja results,” while national officials warn of disciplinary action against state executives. With the appeals process closed, affected aspirants may pursue legal challenges as the race to the 2027 polls heats up.
