AMVCA 2026 Nominees Revealed: 32 Categories and New Indigenous Language Honours

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards returns in May 2026 in Lagos for its 12th edition. This year features 32 awards, including 18 jury-selected prizes, 11 public-voted honours, plus Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer Awards. Two new categories—Best Indigenous Language (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language (Central Africa)—boost regional representation alongside existing West, East and Southern African awards. Top nominees include Elozonam Ogbolu for Digital Content Creator, Adam to Eve for Scripted Originals, and Inimba in Indigenous Language Originals. Film awards span Best Movie, Lead and Supporting Actor/Actress, directing, writing, cinematography and technical crafts. On the TV side, both scripted and unscripted series compete, with titles like Nigerian Idol (Season 10) and The Real Housewives of Lagos in the running. Discover the complete list of nominees across all categories in the official AMVCA announcement.

18 jury-selected awards versus 11 public-voted prizes suggests more emphasis on industry opinion than fan choice, which feels a bit skewed.

Filmmakers should start planning early for indigenous language entries, ensuring scripts justify authenticity while meeting technical standards.
