Senator Mao Ohuabunwa Urges Unity and Transparency at PDP’s 107th NEC

Senator Mao Ohuabunwa Urges Unity and Transparency at PDP’s 107th NEC — 1 of 4
1 / 4

I bring warm greetings from the Board of Trustees, the conscience of our great Party. Today’s meeting comes at a critical moment for the PDP. We must show wisdom, restraint, and a sense of responsibility to our collective interest. I commend the leadership and members for the successful Ward, Local Government, State, and Zonal Congresses. These exercises prove that our Party stands on democratic principles and due process. The ongoing electronic registration of members is a major step forward in transparency and credibility. The decisions we make today will shape the outcome of our National Convention and the future direction of the PDP. I urge everyone to approach zoning recommendations with equity, justice, and unity in mind. No arrangement is perfect, but our willingness to accommodate one another will strengthen us. Let us rise above personal preferences and focus on stability, cohesion, and progress. Nigeria and our members are watching. We must remain guided by wisdom, patience, and a deep commitment to our ideals. Together, we will keep the PDP strong, united, and forward-looking.

Transparency's fine, but is unity just code for preserving the old guard's influence?

It's interesting that calls for unity often follow contentious debates, but real transparency requires more than just polite greetings and formal statements.

Warm greetings sound nice, but unity can't be summoned by speech alone; actions after the NEC will speak louder than words.

Maybe the NEC could publish a clear timeline for proposed reforms and open feedback channels to keep party members engaged and accountable.
