Can Oaths on Sango and Amadioha Curb Political Corruption?
I used to think that swearing politicians in with Sango, Amadioha or Ayelala would make them fear the gods and act honestly. But I now doubt it. Many leaders belong to powerful occult societies and may draw strength from the same source as these deities. An oath on any deity might not bind them. Christian and Muslim prayers have also failed to change political behaviour since 1960. We still elect leaders who disappoint us. So is it realistic to expect honesty if our politicians swear by traditional gods? Share your thoughts.
