Students Pass Vote of No Confidence in NANS President Over Alleged Partisanship

A group of concerned Nigerian students has passed a vote of no confidence in National Association of Nigerian Students President Akinteye Babatunde over allegations of partisan political involvement. The group said the NANS president has repeatedly compromised the association’s neutrality and credibility by engaging in political patronage. It argued that NANS exists to represent students’ welfare and hold governments accountable, regardless of party affiliation. While acknowledging that student leaders have a right to personal political views, the students said the NANS president must remain impartial while in office. They called on Babatunde to uphold the association’s non-partisan mandate or resign if he intends to participate actively in mainstream politics.
