My Humiliating Work Lunch: Spaghetti and Half an Egg Every Day
I always choose jobs with feeding and accommodation because I have a family of nine to support. I can’t afford daily transport and meals on my salary. Since starting here a month ago, I’ve noticed my employer cooks special meals for her own family but serves us from a different pot. We’ve never had meat or fish, even though she buys cartons of chicken, fish and beef each week. The only protein we get is a boiled egg sliced in half for everyone to share. The provided accommodation is awful too — there are no mosquito nets on the windows, so I end up spending part of my salary treating malaria. I can’t keep working under these conditions. All the staff are complaining. I just hope to find a better place soon.
