Bandits Kill Village Head and Six Others in Sokoto’s Bodinga Community
Bandits attacked Kulodo in Bodinga Local Government Area, Sokoto State, during Asr prayer on July 3. They shot and killed the village head, Alhaji Abubakar Tudu, his eldest son and four other residents. The assailants then moved to nearby Kwance village, where they killed another resident and rustled a large number of livestock. Women and children fled the communities in fear, leaving only a few men behind. Security personnel, state officials and Nigeria Red Cross volunteers later recovered the bodies. They were buried on July 4 in accordance with Islamic rites amidst tears. Senior officials at a condolence visit included the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government, the state House of Assembly Speaker, the local federal constituency representative and security commanders.
