Residents in Makurdi Beat Man Accused of Torturing Minor Housemaid
Residents of Makurdi, Benue State, beat up a man accused of torturing his underage housemaid. Human rights activist Zege Orkwande shared the details in a Facebook post on April 3, 2026. Orkwande said the suspect brought the girl from Konshisha LGA and forced her to handle heavy work under brutal conditions. He also assaulted his wife when she tried to intervene. Neighbours stepped in, detained the man, and handed him over to the Benue command of NAPTIP for investigation and possible prosecution. Orkwande called on authorities and communities to end child torture in the state.
