Ejiofor Slams Lawyers as ‘Motor-Park Agitators’ for Political Opportunism
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has warned that some lawyers have sacrificed integrity for political gain. In a recent reflection titled “The Republic of Double-Speakers…”, he accused a dangerous breed of legal practitioners of inventing outrage and hurling invectives to stay politically relevant. Ejiofor recalled how spokespersons like Daniel Bwala, Reno Omokri and Kenneth Okonkwo once crusaded against certain politicians only to later join the same establishment they condemned. He argued that such ideological chameleons undermine the dignity of the profession and erode public trust. He urged the Nigerian Bar Association to launch ethical reforms, restore discipline and ensure lawyers retain intellectual honesty and consistency. He stressed that the law must remain a noble profession, not a circus of convenience and opportunism.
