Two Teen Girls Escape ISWAP Enclave, Surrender to Nigerian Troops in Borno
Two teenage girls linked to ISWAP have surrendered to Nigerian Army troops in Pulka, Gwoza LGA, Borno State. The girls, ages 14 and 16, escaped a terrorist camp in the Sambisa Forest axis and handed themselves over to the 192 Battalion on June 19, 2026. They told soldiers that continuous military pressure and a lack of food and water drove their decision to flee. After surrendering, the teenagers were screened, documented and placed in military custody for further investigation. Security officials say this surrender shows growing pressure on terrorist groups and underscores ongoing efforts to restore peace in the North-East.
