Igando Couple Arrested After 10-Year-Old Adopted Daughter Dies from Beating
Residents of Igando in Lagos State were stunned after a couple, Paul Onyeama and Adline Ogbonna, allegedly beat their 10-year-old adopted daughter, Faith, to death following weeks of abuse. Neighbors say she had been sick for two weeks but was forced to carry out strenuous errands despite her illness. An eyewitness recalled that on Sunday, April 26, the couple attacked the already ailing child. They then tried to conceal her death by leaving her body in their room and acting as if nothing had happened. Area youths intervened and apprehended the woman, while the man was later arrested as he tried to arrange transport to dispose of the body. The child was taken to a hospital and confirmed dead on arrival. The Nigeria Police Force at Igando division has taken both suspects into custody. Preliminary findings indicate the girl was already dead before arriving at the medical facility. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
