Seven Reportedly Killed as Bandits Attack Sokoto Mosque, Abduct Residents
Bandits reportedly attacked Tsamaye village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State on the night of July 28, killing at least seven people and abducting an unknown number of residents. Residents said three worshippers, all displaced persons, were killed inside a mosque after the attackers surrounded security personnel stationed in the community. The gunmen reportedly moved from house to house for more than six hours, firing sporadically, looting shops and valuables, rustling livestock, and setting a vehicle and two shops ablaze. Two of those killed were said to be residents of Tsamaye, while five were displaced people who had sought refuge in the village. At least three abductions have been confirmed, but the full number remains unclear as many residents fled into nearby bushes during the attack.
