Nollywood Actor Stanley Amandi Linked to Alleged Plot Against Tinubu

Veteran Nollywood actor Stanley Amandi is under scrutiny in an alleged plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. Investigation records cited by a Nigerian news outlet say he was allegedly asked to coordinate public support, celebrations and social-media messaging across the South-east if the planned takeover succeeded. In his statement to military investigators, Amandi said his involvement began after he became friends with a soldier identified as Warrant Officer Nas. He said he later attended a Ramadan gathering in Abuja, where discussions reportedly shifted from Nigeria’s economic and security challenges to plans for a change of government. Amandi said he was asked to prepare a mobilisation plan for the five South-east states, with an estimated budget of ₦50 million. He admitted receiving ₦100,000 after the Abuja meeting but said it was presented as appreciation for attending. He also claimed he considered reporting the alleged plot but feared consequences after what he described as a subtle threat. Several suspects are facing treason, terrorism, money-laundering and related charges over the alleged plot. Amandi has not been publicly confirmed as facing charges, while other defendants have denied wrongdoing and are challenging the admissibility of statements obtained during military interrogation.

The description leans heavily on alleged actions, so the distinction between scrutiny, accusation and proven involvement matters here.

Linking a public figure to a plot is serious, but social-media messaging alone should not be treated as proof of a wider role.

People should follow verified updates from investigators and court processes, while avoiding reposting claims as settled facts.
