Kano Suspends After-Parties and ‘Hot Challenge’ at Wedding Events

Kano Suspends After-Parties and ‘Hot Challenge’ at Wedding Events — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The Kano State Censorship Board has suspended after-party activities and the “hot challenge” at weddings and other social events held in event centres across the state. The board said the directive, announced on July 25, 2026, is intended to ensure that MCs, event centres and organisers comply with regulations and uphold Kano’s cultural, moral and religious values. It described the trend as a Western practice increasingly being introduced into local wedding celebrations. Event centres, MCs, planners and other organisers have been directed to comply immediately. The board warned that anyone who violates the suspension could face legal sanctions, and asked residents to report incidents within Kano State.
