Information Minister: Jos Attack Reflects Local Conflict, Not National Security Collapse

On March 29, an attack in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North LGA, left at least 28 people dead. Information Minister Mohammed Idris said this was a criminal act in a conflict-prone community, not a collapse of national security. He extended condolences on behalf of President Bola Tinubu and confirmed that troops under Operation Enduring Peace responded immediately. Security agencies secured key routes and conducted targeted search-and-clearance operations to contain the situation. The minister added that President Tinubu held a meeting with top security and intelligence chiefs and has invited Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang for further consultations. A 48-hour curfew was imposed to stabilise the area while authorities pursue the perpetrators.
