1 / 2

Mrs. Nnenna Esther Adeleke, née Akpara, is remembered as the mother of two elected governors of Osun State: the late Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke and the incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke. She was also the mother of businessman Adedeji Adeleke, founder of Adeleke University and father of Afrobeats star Davido. Her family story spans politics, business and entertainment. Mrs. Adeleke was from Akwete Ndoki in Abia State and married Senator Ayoola Adeleke of Ede, Osun State. Their marriage linked two communities across ethnic and regional lines. The Adeleke family retains ties with Akwete, including scholarships for indigenes at Adeleke University and support for the community during festive periods.
