Bafana Bafana Midfielder Jayden Adams Dies at 25 After World Cup Run

South African and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has died at the age of 25, weeks after starring for his country at the World Cup. South Africa’s minister of sport, arts and culture expressed profound shock and called Adams one of the nation’s brightest young talents. He asked the public and media to avoid speculation and give the family space and privacy. Police say an investigation is under way after a body matching Adams’s age was found in a Cape Town suburb on Saturday morning. The official cause of death is yet to be confirmed. Adams made his international debut in 2022 and played in all three group games at the World Cup. He began his career at Stellenbosch FC before joining Mamelodi Sundowns in January 2025, where he won league and Champions League titles.
