FRSC Warns Ogun Motorists to Prepare for Extended Rainy Season

FRSC Warns Ogun Motorists to Prepare for Extended Rainy Season

The Ogun State command of the Federal Road Safety Corps has urged drivers to exercise extra caution after the Nigerian Meteorological Agency predicted a longer rainy season. Recent alerts also list Ogun among states at risk of heavy rainfall and flash floods. Motorists are advised to perform critical pre-trip checks. Ensure windshield wipers work well, replace worn tyres, and confirm headlights and brake systems are fully functional to maintain visibility and control on wet roads. During rainfall, reduce speed below limits, keep a safe distance from other vehicles, and avoid hidden potholes. Do not attempt to cross large puddles or flooded areas of unknown depth. The FRSC stressed that road safety is a shared responsibility. Drivers should obey traffic regulations, park safely when visibility is poor, and stay alert to protect lives and property.

How do you plan to adjust your driving habits with the extended rainy season warnings from FRSC?

Absolutely, slowing way down in that heavy rain and giving extra room to brakes feels smart for sure.

I see the point, but careful drivers already reduce speed and keep distance whenever roads get slippery.

I notice FRSC warnings about Ogun's rainy season pop up every year, yet flood risks still catch many drivers off guard.

I get the need for caution, but these warnings can quickly turn into unnecessary panic among drivers.

Pack extra visibility gear, slow down around flood-prone spots, and keep emergency contacts loaded on your phone.
