Lawmaker Says 25 Abducted Children Died in Terrorists’ Captivity Across Three States

A Kwara State lawmaker says 25 children abducted by terrorists in Kebbi, Kwara and Niger states died while in captivity or during transit and were buried in the forest. According to him, 315 of the 336 abducted persons have regained freedom after about six months. The figure includes 308 victims recovered from forests in Kwara and Niger, as well as seven students abducted from Gateway ICT Polytechnic in Ogun State. He said 12 abducted youths allegedly chose to join the terrorists and were not among those released, while 15 victims from Kwara remain missing. He also said two women who were abducted while pregnant returned with newborn babies, and that the women said they were not sexually assaulted. The freed victims were received in Ilorin after military operations in Niger State. Forty-six reportedly required immediate medical care before being reunited with their families.
