Seun Kuti: You Can’t Spend a Billion Dollars, No Matter What You Buy
Nigerian musician Seun Kuti says most people don’t truly grasp the size of a billion dollars. In a recent interview, he argued that our brains didn’t evolve to understand such large numbers. He explained that even after buying several private jets worth about $30 million each, you’d still have hundreds of millions left. To illustrate, he cited a popular experiment: one million seconds is roughly 11 days, while one billion seconds equals around 37 years. This comparison, he said, highlights why talking about billions can feel so abstract for many of us.
