Mother Arrested for Allegedly Forcing Daughter to Abort in Nsukka Over Husband’s Finances
A woman in Ihunowere, Nsukka, was arrested after allegedly taking her six-month-pregnant daughter for an abortion. The dispute began when her son-in-law said he couldn’t afford to bring rice at Christmas or Easter. Local youths say the mother called her daughter home, then took her to a private location in Nsukka to terminate the pregnancy without her husband’s consent. A video shows both women tied to palm fronds and paraded through the market. The community demanded ₦1 million as compensation from the mother and insisted she perform funeral rites for the unborn baby. Authorities are now investigating the incident.
