Max Kruse Blasts Victor Boniface: ‘He’s Given Up on His Career’

Max Kruse Blasts Victor Boniface: ‘He’s Given Up on His Career’ — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Former Werder Bremen captain Max Kruse has harshly criticised Nigerian striker Victor Boniface for returning to training overweight after a serious knee injury. Kruse spoke on the Flatterball Podcast, calling Boniface’s lack of preparation “a real shame” given his potential. The 25-year-old forward is on loan at Werder Bremen but has struggled with injuries and form this season. Although he’s back on the training ground, concerns remain over his fitness ahead of crucial fixtures. Coach Daniel Thioune believes Boniface could feature later in the campaign, perhaps against Cologne or Hamburg, but he’s expected to start from the bench as he rebuilds match sharpness.

Do you think Kruse's criticism is fair or too harsh on Boniface's commitment to recovery?

I agree his frustration is understandable, but calling it giving up feels excessive.

I think Kruse's comment overshoots a bit; recovery isn't always straightforward.

Kruse's remarks seem fueled more by disappointment than helpful feedback, especially since Boniface is still recovering from a major knee injury.

I get that he's frustrated, but calling Boniface's career over feels premature and dismissive of his real progress in rehab.

Teams should offer structured fitness programs and mental coaching to help players like Boniface rebuild confidence and body condition after injury.
