Three Road Crashes in 24 Hours Kill 32 Across Kogi, Ogun and Kwara
No fewer than 32 people lost their lives in three separate accidents within a single day across Kogi, Ogun and Kwara states. The Federal Road Safety Corps has extended condolences to the victims’ families and called for strict compliance with traffic regulations. The first collision involved a truck and commercial bus on the Okene-Lokoja Road in Kogi, killing seven and injuring three when a tyre burst. Hours later on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway in Ogun, a truck collided with a Hiace bus, leaving ten dead and six injured amid reports of speeding and dangerous overtaking. The deadliest crash occurred on the Ogbomosho-Oloru Road in Kwara, where a trailer carrying passengers and goods overturned. Fifteen people died, 17 were wounded and 16 escaped harm. The FRSC blamed driver fatigue and the risky practice of mixed loading. Road safety officials are urging motorists to maintain tyres, avoid driving while tired and use only roadworthy vehicles.
