Wike Defends Gbajabiamila, Calls PFIPC Allegations Politically Motivated
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, insists claims against President Tinubu’s Chief of Staff are driven by political agendas. He described the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council as fictitious and said it makes no sense to approve funds for an agency that does not exist. Wike commended the President for ordering the ICPC to investigate. He challenged calls for a broader probe by alleging opponents often target senior officials to discredit an administration. Drawing on his own experience with false allegations, he urged anyone with evidence to present it to security agencies instead of fleeing. He questioned why the accuser reportedly fled and argued that the Chief of Staff cannot unilaterally create budgets. Wike also dismissed demands for Gbajabiamila’s removal before any inquiry concludes, calling such moves unfair.
