Army Rescues Injured Widow of Retired General After Bandit Attack in Katsina
Troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA rescued Mrs. Abubakar, widow of retired Maj.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, after gunmen ambushed her convoy in Matazu LGA of Katsina State. The mission, part of Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, followed fresh intelligence in Matazu and nearby communities. Soldiers engaged the bandits at Tunga village, forcing them to flee. Mrs. Abubakar had been shot and was bleeding when troops found her. She received first aid on site and was stabilised before evacuation to a nearby medical facility. The military has intensified follow-up operations to dismantle criminal hideouts. Authorities promise to track the attackers and ensure they face justice.
