Ify Obinabo Urges Mothers to Put Family Before Excessive Social Club Commitments
Ify Obinabo, executive director of the Gender Empowerment and Rights Initiative Foundation, has urged Catholic women in Awka to prioritise responsible parenting, strong family values and moral guidance for their children. Speaking at the August meeting of the Awka Catholic Women Organisation, Obinabo said mothers play a central role in shaping children’s character. She urged parents to provide emotional support, discipline and good examples, especially as young people face growing influence from social media and peers. She cautioned against excessive involvement in multiple social clubs where meetings, levies and ceremonies begin to reduce time for spouses and children. Obinabo urged couples to treat parenting as a shared responsibility and encouraged women to use their groups to promote peace, charity, education and support for vulnerable people.
