Super Falcons midfielder Jennifer Echegini says the team is addressing the defensive lapses that saw Nigeria concede five goals in the group stage of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Nigeria recovered from an opening 3-2 loss to Malawi with wins over Zambia and Egypt, but finished second in the group after conceding twice against Egypt. Echegini said the goals allowed were unusual for a team of Nigeria’s experience. Ahead of the quarter-final against Cameroon, she said the squad has focused on tightening the midfield, organising the back line and improving the small details. Cameroon enter the match after topping their group and conceding only two goals.
