Nigerian Navy Cracks Down on Impersonators: Two Suspects Handed to Police in Calabar

The Nigerian Navy has handed over two suspected naval impersonators to the SCID in Calabar after their arrest on March 10, 2026. The men, David Norbert Aleji and Francis Gideon Isaac, were found in camouflage uniforms with fabricated naval IDs. According to Director of Naval Information Abiodun Folorunsho, Aleji posed as a Navy Lieutenant and recruited Isaac to impersonate a Midshipman. Both admitted buying the uniforms and producing the ID cards themselves. A search of their residence recovered a jungle hat, boots, and other military items. The Navy warned the public to stay vigilant, noting that impersonating military personnel is a serious criminal offence that undermines service integrity.
